Weekly Update @ 24th January 2021: P lans for further modest enhancement to the Buckhaven Foreshore are taking a step forward. CLEAR has just had a grant application approved to Fife Environment Trust which will include installation of a couple of picnic tables, benches, and the planting of trees and bulbs at the northern end (the wind turbine end) with CLEAR providing ten percent of total cost plus all the considerable volunteer labour, tools and logistics required.
Buckhaven Heritage Teatowel/Calendar (10th series in the series - very limited issue.
15 available at cost price £6.50 +P&P
The second phase of the dinosaur mural and also some totems are also planned. Unfortunately another grant application for interpretation panels at the viewing points was unsuccessful. Under the current restrictions however, it’s difficult to know when we will be able to implement this but treeplanting normally needs to be carried out during the winter season.
These further improvements help implement some of the recommendations in the Buckhaven Community Action Plan although many others remain untouched. With significant developments linked to the River Leven and the Levenmouth Reconnected programmes evolving, we hope that the Buckhaven Foreshore, Braes as well as other sites here can be linked into a wider Levenmouth network so that both residents and local will find it not only easier and safer to move around but also be able to enjoy and take pride in an interesting and integrated leisure experience. After a significant growth since 2018 (including work in Methil and the Sandwell Workshop), CLEAR is rationalising activities from 2020 onwards. Funding has been secured from the National Lottery, Robertson Trust, People's Postcode Lottery and Scottish Govt Investing In Communities Fund to maintain a small cadre of staff and regular weekly volunteer programme.
