Weekly Update @ 27 March 2022: There was a turnout of almost 40 volunteers for the final treeplanting session of the winter at Savoy Park. P7 pupils from Denbeath Primary, a sizeable Fife College staff group joined forces with regular CLEAR volunteers to plant around 140 trees, both native and fruit, as part of the biodiversity corridors to create a more attractive and nature friendly environment. We may squeeze in a last planting session this Thursday 31st at Buckhaven Foreshore from 10-12 for anyone wanting to have a go at planting a tree and saving the planet. Elsewhere the fine spring weather has brought out the daffodils en masse on roadside verges around town while the first grasscutting has been necessary in the community gardens as growth gets well underway.
For people out there looking for some healthy pastime, it’s difficult to beat a spot of volunteering for the community gardens. These offer a lovely, friendly mainly outdoor environment which is both sociable and constructive, and you can gain useful knowledge in the process. We know some find the winter months challenging but now the better weather is coming, there is no god reason not to come and join in. Volunteers sessions are held every Wednesday and Thursday from 10 until 3.30 at both Buckhaven and Methil Gardens. The bike workshop at 47 Sandwell St will be open this coming Saturday 2nd April from 10-3 offering second hand bikes at unbeatable prices, as well as affordable repairs. We appreciate any donations of unused bikes or parts.
Delicious local handmade jams, juices and chutneys, made from fruit we have grown is available from 36 College St or 47 Sandwell St. For more information tel 07903366529, email clearfife@gmail.com or check our facebook pages
